Four Paws

Four Paws

Located in the old University Square mini-mall near campus, Four Paws was part bar, part arcade and all fun. It opened in the mid-1970s and remained a student favorite into the early ’80s. Billed as a “bar and game room,” Four Paws offered pinball, pool, air hockey – and of course, beer – just steps from campustigerpregameshow.blogspot.com. It famously advertised 30¢ beers on tap in 1976, a price that drew thrifty college crowds in drovestigerpregameshow.blogspot.com. Tucked right next to a Hardee’s in the mini-mall, it was the perfect spot to unwind after class or between study sessions. One promotion (“J. Miller Night”) featured 25¢ bottles on Thursdays, showing how Four Paws competed to be the cheapest beer in townopen.clemson.edu. The atmosphere was a laid-back rec hall where you could challenge your buddies to pinball or bumper pool with a cold brew in hand. Four Paws didn’t survive the 1980s; the entire mini-mall was demolished in the early ’90s, erasing its physical presence. But those who were at Clemson in that era still smile recalling Four Paws – a place where Tigers could play games, meet friends, and enjoy a brew for pocket changetigerpregameshow.blogspot.com.
